I don't expect alot. Limited reviews are so-so and this isn't the type of movie which has mass appeal.

Its theatre count as of now is 1800+ and with that number I'd say in the 9-10 mill range for opening weekend.

i got 1 bet in on over apocalypto 13m -122...

thats it so far...

like that one, I think 15 is fair for Apocalypto.

Sleeping at the wheel when Pinny released the lines so not much value left for moi now.

this is from BOG...just copied 1 paragragh of the whole article bc i see it as being the most important of their take this weekend...offical mojo count not out but if this is true it would be a huge bump compared to most increases...

"Selling a subtitled film with no stars about a part of history that few today are talking about is risky enough. But Gibson's arrest over the summer for drunk driving and his anti-Jewish remarks led to horrible PR for Apocalypto's only marketable asset. A few weeks ago, this film looked like it would have a tough road to travel in order to succeed. But like with Passion, targeted marketing at those audience segments most likely to embrace the pic has helped fuel positive buzz and even good reviews have sparked more interest.not only with moviegoers, but also with exhibitors. Disney upped its opening weekend run from 2,000 to 2,500 theaters as the exhibition community is showing more confidence in the box office potential of the film. Passion also saw its theater bookings jump in the final weeks before launching."

Just saw that little news myself. Pretty confident his info is accurate (lists Exhibitor Relations and EDI as sources) and thus a mandatory wager on O13.

yeah Oly is pretty much useless now, not sure why they bother bringing out lines for 50 limits.

Played some Minors over 6 with the plus money. 2200 per theatre with a PG rating shouldn't be an underdog.

Holiday line looking pretty fair now especially considering it got a nice theatre bump itself. Don't know why I didn't touch the 18 when it first opened.

yes not bad at all on the theatre count...

this is a fwiw....

Lexington, KY - Presale Report (as of 1:30 EST Thursday)

Apocalypto - 14
The Holiday - 6
Blood Diamond - 2
Unaccompanied Minors - 0

Didn't think we'd see APOCL in doube digits. Blood Diamond is a little low, but we had a great sneak for it. Holiday is so-so, and as expected for Minors. All this is strictly open to your interpretation. IMO, I wouldn't read too much into these figures.

i dont know if this is any indication of how its gonna play out but one of the movies sites has these guys who track the yahoo reviews and have come up with a rough formula of predicting friday BO #'s...well so far Apocalypto is crushing everything by a wide margin...

Apocalypto - 273 (53), +60 (+10), B-
Blood Diamond - 102 (19), +13 (+3), B+
The Holiday - 84 (11), +13 (+1), B-
Unaccompanied Minors - 73 (7), +14 (+2), C

dhd has posted Apocalypto won Friday matinees. However the info their isn't rock solid and some of her own comments on predictions are shaky. She says a source within Mel Gibson's camp has the director and studio hoping for 12 million. Like that should be taken seriously, appears this "insider" is setting the bar awfully low.

ya i just read that...seeing thats the one i am looking to hit this weekend....id say it had better do a BIG friday# or else...i think this is gonna be masively frontloaded...it might hold up OK on saturday but sunday should be a drastic falloff with it being an Rrated extremely violent movie..

hoping for a 6M on friday....

Apocalypto - 386 (86), +87 (+18), B-
Blood Diamond - 149 (22), +37 (+1), B+
The Holiday - 121 (14), +29 (+1), B-
Unaccompanied Minors - 122 (10), +40 (+2), D+ (down from C)

thats a huge # compared to the rest of them...the guys who created that formula (which i have seen come scary close to some friday actuals #) were calling for Apocalypto to have a ratio of 100...i think that maybe far too low bc the movie has been on the front page of yahoo so im sure thats leading to it getting more reviews...(this is just for shits n giggles and cannot be treated as anything more than speculation)

going out for some beers will be back in a few hours with hopefully something concrete...

its pretty crazy when you can say on a friday night what the #1 movie will be...if APOCL is beatin the snot outta TH in the early matinee showings its gonna crush it at night and saturday...TH will beat it on sunday but it will be far far behind to try to play catch up....

Usual Party Place 4:30 PST Update. APOCL is sizably ahead.

APOCL
207 $1711
306 $2511

HOLID:
121 $913
149 $1,152

BDMND (don't have time to breakdown but between two screens)
197 (so about 100 per screen) $1533

UNACM:
62 $469.50
128 $957 (keep in mind 39 of that is one school)

nf posted these from EDI (about 80% of Fridays gross)
APOCALYPTO 3,961,776
THE HOLIDAY 3,253,409
HAPPY FEET 2,137,204
BLOOD DIAMOND 2,026,465
CASINO ROYALE 1,799,603
DEJA VU 1,376,589
UNACCOMPANIED MINORS 1,134,123

Apocalypto still has work to do needing a 2.7-2.8 IM to clear 13.
Blood Diamond looks like it won't hit 10 mill, clear under 11.5/12.
Holiday should fall close to 14 million, another clear under the number.
And Unaccompanied Minors is heading to the Under side with probably 4.5-5 mill.

that idiot bitch on DHD posting 6mill for APOC on friday...i knew that was BS...the guys on the other board were also high on friday for APOC bc it ended the day with 800 reviews so there were calling for around 6mill as well...

just have to wait for the estimates...

well they are in
APOC 4.95
TH 4.4 (little surprised its not that far behind APOC...i think this could win the weekend actually contrary to what everyone else says....who knows doesnt matter really bc its a dead under at 16.5 and 17m
BD bombed....congrats to labeeb i know he was big on the under on this movie

i would say APOC should clear the 13 at pinny....i went back a couple weeks (not counting turkey weekend) everything increased from fri to sat so if this can increase some it will clear 13 and could clear 14...even if it does another 5 on sat it should get over 13.....this one will be weird bc of sunday....lets see how it does on saturday...i think i should go at least 2-1 this weekend...with the shot at 3-0 depending on how this does sat and sun...
